Job Title: Food Services Worker (Patient Dining Associate) 6AM-6:15PM ROTATING DAYS Job Description This full-time Food Services Worker (Patient Dining Associate) role focuses on supporting hospital meal service by preparing, assembling, and organizing patient meals in a non–patient-facing environment. You work a 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. schedule, including every other weekend, and play a vital part in delivering accurate, timely, and safe nourishment that contributes to patients’ comfort, health, and satisfaction during their hospital stay.
Responsibilities Provide professional and friendly customer service while supporting patient meal service operations. Assemble meal trays and menus in accordance with established guidelines, diet orders, and protocols. Prepare food items and assist with food production, packaging, and tray building to support patient dining. Organize and set up the work area, ensuring supplies and products are available and arranged before, during, and after the shift.
Maintain galley and floor stock so that nourishment and supplies are available and delivered efficiently. Handle special meal requests accurately and communicate needs related to patient diets and meal delivery with the patient care team. Follow food safety, sanitation, and portion control guidelines at all times. Clean and sanitize workstations, utensils, and equipment regularly to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
Use all equipment and materials properly and safely in accordance with hospital and department procedures. Support general labor tasks related to food service, including tray line operations, food prep, cooking assistance, and cleaning. Essential Skills Experience in food service or food preparation in environments such as hospitals, hospitality, or general food production. Ability to assemble meals accurately based on menus, diet orders, and established protocols.
Strong attention to detail to ensure correct portions, diet compliance, and timely meal delivery. Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices and willingness to follow all guidelines. Capability to organize and maintain a clean, well-stocked work area throughout the shift. Comfort working in a fast-paced, structured tray line or food service operation. Ability to provide courteous and professional customer service to internal teams and support staff.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform general labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving supplies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in hospitality, catering, or institutional food service is beneficial. Experience with tray passing, tray building, or patient dining operations in a healthcare setting is an advantage. Familiarity with food packaging and portioning processes is helpful.

Work is primarily performed in food service areas located downstairs and is not patient-facing. You spend most of your time on your feet in a structured tray line and food preparation environment, using standard kitchen and food service equipment while adhering to strict safety and sanitation standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO 63136. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
