Position Title: General Laborer 3rd Shift Position Type: Regular - Full-Time Requisition ID: 44174 JOB PURPOSE: As a General Laborer for our jalapeño pepper lines, you’ll be hands on every day as the frontline of our jalapeño popper appetizer production process, ensuring the product is made to the highest standards and are delivered with quality, safety, and the end customer in mind.
Here’s what your role will look like: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: · Carry out all assigned tasks like filling, sorting, inspecting, and packaging jalapeño peppers to meet set quality and quantity standards, flagging any issues early in the production process. · The ability to execute repetitive tasks for the duration of the shift like standing and manually hand turning and placing of jalapeño pepper halves on the conveyor belt.
· Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance with the ability to make minor changes to equipment as needed to keep production within product specifications. · Keep the production work area and equipment clean, following all food safety, chemical safety, and GMP guidelines. · Participate in all required training (safety, quality, HR, etc.) and adhering to all PPE (person protective equipment) guidelines and GMP (good manufacturing practices) established for the facility.
· Accurately complete the required digital and/or hardcopy documentation throughout your shift. · Once trained, back up machine operators with equipment setup, start-ups and shutdowns, basic troubleshooting, and quality checks when needed. · Once trained by McCain, operate a forklift and execute safe material movement when needed. KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES: · Experience matters: - 6 months’ experience in manufacturing in the past 12 months is required. 6 - 12 months’ experience in food manufacturing strongly preferred. · Education: High school diploma or GED required. · Always learning mindset: Comfortable learning new equipment and processes, and willing to step into different roles as needed to get the job done.
· Tech friendly: Has a digital first mindset, able to enter data into various systems or devices, embraces new technology, and can follow digital production schedules, reports, and metrics. · Clear communicator: Able to read and follow written and verbal instructions, complete required documentation, and interact with team members using English independently. · Detail-driven: Understand the importance of product quality, safety guidelines, and accurate record-keeping.
· Physically ready: Capable of regularly lifting 50 pounds, standing for up to 8 hours, handling tasks that involve constant use of hands, and may include bending, reaching, crouching, and twisting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. · Attitude is everything: You show up on time, work hard, and bring a positive, team-first mindset every day.
WORKING ENVIROMENT & OTHER INFORMATION · Travel: None · Shift Hours: 8 hours shifts generally working Monday – Friday; 10pm – 6am. Overtime as needed. · The job is performed in a manufacturing environment where loud noises, strong smells and temperatures may fluctuate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals used in the manufacturing or sanitation processes.
