Job Title: General Labor Job Description This General Labor role supports the production of precast and prestressed concrete structures, primarily for parking garages, in an outdoor concrete yard environment. You will contribute directly to the forming and preparation of concrete products, working with rebar, wood forms, and general material handling to help deliver high-quality structural solutions.
Responsibilities Assist in the forming of precast concrete structures, with a focus on components used in parking garages. Tie off rebar accurately and efficiently as a regular part of daily duties. Set and adjust wood forms according to project specifications and direction from supervisors. Handle materials throughout the yard, including loading and unloading, without operating heavy equipment or machinery at the start of the contract.
Perform general cleanup in the yard and shop areas to maintain a safe and organized work site. Work outdoors in a dusty, dry, and arid environment and remain productive while exposed to the elements. Lift and carry materials weighing up to 70 pounds as needed throughout the workday. Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment at all times. Collaborate with a diverse team of employees and supervisors, including bilingual coworkers.
Adapt to changing schedules, including potential shutdowns on rainy days and make-up work on Saturdays or longer workdays. Essential Skills Experience in general labor roles, particularly in construction, landscaping, or other outdoor work environments. Experience working in construction-type settings or similar physically demanding roles. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including dry, dusty, and arid environments.
Capability to lift up to 70 pounds safely and repeatedly during the workday. Mechanical inclination and comfort using hand and power tools under guidance. Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks such as tying rebar, setting forms, and material handling. Openness to working extended hours, including potential 65–70 hour workweeks during busy project periods. Ability to work Saturdays when required, including mandatory Saturday shifts during peak workloads.
Effective communication skills to work within a diverse workforce; bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred, and Spanish-only speakers are acceptable. Commitment to following safety protocols and wearing required personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior construction or concrete experience, including tying rebar or steel work, is highly valued. Experience in landscaping or other outdoor labor roles is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with hand and power tools used in construction and concrete work. No formal certifications or medical clearances are required for this role. Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge of construction or concrete work during the interview can positively influence starting pay decisions. Reliable work ethic and willingness to adapt to schedule changes, including makeup days and overtime. Comfort working within a diverse team environment that includes bilingual employees and supervisors.
