Job Title: Environmental Field Technician Job Description The Environmental Technician safely consolidates, treats, stores, packs, transports, and disposes of hazardous waste in alignment with environmentally responsible practices, policies, and procedures. This role supports industrial cleaning, wastewater treatment, spill response, and facility services while maintaining detailed and accurate records to ensure regulatory compliance and high-quality service.
Responsibilities Consolidate, treat, store, pack, transport, and dispose of hazardous waste in accordance with all applicable environmental regulations, company policies, and compliant practices. Perform industrial cleaning tasks, including pressure washing, wastewater treatment support, spill response, and general facility services. Complete all required documentation accurately, legibly, and on time in accordance with relevant regulations and customer policies, practices, and procedures.
Assist with site cleanup, yard work, and general labor activities related to environmental services and hazardous materials handling. Operate equipment safely and effectively as needed for hazardous waste management, industrial cleaning, and spill response activities. Maintain clear and detailed records of waste handling, treatment processes, and transportation to support compliance and audit requirements.
Respond to spills and environmental incidents following established safety and operational protocols. Work outdoors in varying climate conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled areas while following all safety procedures. Wear and properly use company-issued personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator. Perform other reasonably related tasks and duties as assigned by management to support environmental operations and site safety.
Essential Skills Proven ability to perform general labor, site cleanup, and yard work in industrial or environmental settings. Comfort operating equipment used in hazardous waste management, industrial cleaning, or spill response. Knowledge of safe handling, storage, and transportation practices for hazardous materials. Ability to accurately read labels and documentation, with sufficient visual acuity and depth perception to work safely around equipment and vehicles.
Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes and alarms to maintain safety in active work areas. Capability to work outdoors in all climate conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled environments. Willingness and ability to consistently wear and properly use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator. Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing documentation accurately and on time.
Reliability and readiness to perform physically demanding tasks in an industrial and environmental field setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required. HAZWOPER certification is a strong plus. Experience in the environmental field, including industrial cleaning, wastewater treatment, spill response, or facility services, is highly beneficial.
Comfort working outside in seasonal elements, including rain, heat, cold, and varying weather conditions. Ability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols in regulated environments. Interest in long-term career growth within environmental services, with opportunities to advance into leadership or operations roles. Work Environment This role is primarily outdoors in the seasonal elements, and you will work outside in all weather conditions, rain or shine.
