Job Title: Industrial Electrician Job Description This role installs, repairs, and maintains electrical systems and equipment in a hospital environment, including laboratory equipment, motors, heating devices, and other critical electrical apparatus. You will work the night shift to ensure safe, reliable power and support essential hospital operations by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing repairs in accordance with applicable codes and safety standards.

Responsibilities Perform maintenance and required testing on the emergency power supply system to ensure continuous and reliable backup power. Install and maintain electrical wiring, switchgear, fuses, lighting fixtures, heating devices, motors, and other hospital electrical apparatus in compliance with national and local electrical codes and local licensing practices. Modify existing electrical installations by changing locations and conditions of equipment and wiring while ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards.

Install new electrical and related equipment as needed, including specialized laboratory equipment such as incubators and sterilizers. Repair, maintain, or fabricate special laboratory equipment to support clinical and research operations. Inspect and check all lighting in hospital buildings on a regular basis and turn off systems when appropriate to support energy conservation initiatives. Repair a variety of electrically powered equipment such as patient beds, exhaust fans, fire doors, patient call lights and pillow speaker units, intercom systems, parking lot automatic gates and lighting, and alarm systems.

Replace fuses, breakers, and other protective devices as necessary and maintain a thorough understanding of their functions and applications. Replace light bulbs and perform repairs on various types of electrical cords, including cleaning lighting fixtures on a regular basis to maintain safety and functionality. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and electrical schematics to plan and execute installations, maintenance, and repairs.

Use standard tools, instruments, and equipment safely and effectively to perform troubleshooting, installation, and repair tasks. Apply knowledge of fundamentals of electricity and electronics, including solid-state devices, circuits, wiring, and industrial equipment, to diagnose and resolve electrical issues. Follow Arc Flash Hazard procedures and NFPA 70E codes and regulations to maintain electrical safety in the workplace.

Use tag-out/lock-out procedures to ensure equipment is de-energized and safe before performing maintenance or repairs. Plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet deadlines while working independently during the assigned shift. Collaborate and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization to coordinate work and minimize disruption to hospital operations. Utilize computer systems and software relevant to the functional area for documentation, communication, and work management.

Essential Skills High School Diploma or GED equivalent. One (1) to three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience as an electrician, preferably in an industrial or commercial setting. Ability to operate standard tools, instruments, and equipment used in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and electrical schematics.

Ability to plan, organize, prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines. Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity in a dynamic work environment. Ability to solve problems, identify solutions, and troubleshoot electrical issues effectively. Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for clear communication with colleagues and other departments. Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization and maintain effective working relationships.
