Job Captain About the Opportunity An established multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm is seeking a Job Captain to support a growing portfolio of federal, institutional, public-sector, education, healthcare, industrial, and commercial projects . Position Summary The Job Captain will play a key role in the development, coordination, and production of architectural projects from design development through construction documentation.
Working alongside senior architects, project leaders, and in-house engineering disciplines, this individual will help lead technical project execution, coordinate design documentation, and ensure project deliverables are completed accurately and efficiently. This is not solely a project management role . Successful candidates must be comfortable remaining directly involved in design, production, technical detailing, coordination, and construction documentation efforts.
Key Responsibilities Coordinate architectural projects from Design Development (DD) through Construction Documents (CD). Develop, assemble, and coordinate multidisciplinary drawing packages. Produce and maintain architectural documentation utilizing Revit. Collaborate directly with architects, engineers, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout project development. Support project planning, design development, technical detailing, and construction documentation activities.
Review, incorporate, and coordinate project markups, redlines, and revisions. Assist with project startup efforts, scheduling, and technical execution. Participate in project meetings, site investigations, field reviews, and coordination sessions. Ensure drawing packages are coordinated, accurate, and aligned with project requirements. Support construction administration activities as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field.
Approximately 7-12 years of professional architectural experience . Strong proficiency in Revit with substantial production experience. Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary architectural and engineering teams. Proven ability to lead and manage construction document production. Strong understanding of architectural detailing, building systems, and project documentation standards. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within project teams. Preferred Qualifications Actively pursuing architectural licensure. NCARB certification path in progress. Experience with federal, government, or public-sector projects. Department of Defense (DoD) or military facility project experience. Proficiency with AutoCAD. Experience using BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Construction Administration experience. Field investigation and existing conditions documentation experience. Exposure to project specifications and technical writing. Experience within healthcare, laboratory, higher education, institutional, or civic market sectors.
