Job Title: Production Technician Job Description The Production Technician leads the assembly department and performs hands-on mechanical assembly of sheet metal parts and components. This role focuses on working with thin steel, fabricating panels and moldings, interpreting assembly and engineering drawings, and supporting multiple production functions to ensure high-quality manufactured products.

Responsibilities Lead and coordinate activities within the assembly department to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules. Assemble sheet metal parts and work with thin steel to create panels, moldings, and other metal components according to specifications. Perform mechanical assembly of components, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and function of all parts. Read, interpret, and work from assembly and engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics to complete tasks accurately.

Fabricate panels, moldings, and other metal components using appropriate tools, equipment, and fabrication techniques. Handle and move panels safely using lifting equipment and other material handling tools. Inspect parts and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and defects, and make adjustments or repairs as needed. Install windows and doors into assemblies, ensuring proper sealing, alignment, and secure fastening.

Run wire through conduit as required for assemblies, following electrical and safety guidelines. Apply caulking to frames and other areas to ensure proper sealing and finish. Support machining operations when needed, including assisting with setup, material handling, or basic machine tasks. Assist the paint department as required, including preparation of parts and components for painting. Support welding operations when needed, including handling parts, preparing materials, or assisting welders.

Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and other production teams to resolve issues and improve processes. Follow all safety procedures, facility guidelines, and quality standards while maintaining a clean and organized work area. Essential Skills Proven experience in mechanical assembly, including working with sheet metal and thin steel components. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, engineering drawings, and schematics accurately.

Hands-on experience with assembly processes, including installation of windows, doors, and mechanical components. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic mechanical issues during assembly. Skill in using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal parts. Experience handling panels and large components safely using lifting equipment and material handling tools.

Ability to perform detailed inspections of parts and assemblies to ensure quality and compliance with specifications. Familiarity with electrical routing tasks such as running wire through conduit within assemblies. Basic understanding of welding, machining, paint, and facility maintenance processes to support these areas when needed. Capability to work from construction and HVAC-related drawings or layouts when required.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work effectively in an industrial manufacturing environment and meet production deadlines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a lead production role within an assembly or manufacturing environment. Experience in carpentry or construction, particularly related to framing, installation, and finishing work.

Exposure to HVAC systems, facility maintenance, or industrial maintenance is beneficial. Familiarity with facility operations and general facilities maintenance practices. Comfort working in a climate-controlled industrial facility with structured production hours. Willingness to cross-train and support machining, welding, paint, and other production functions as needed. Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills
