Job Title: Lighting Sales Specialist II Job Description The Lighting Sales Specialist II supports residential lighting sales across the state by driving customer satisfaction, coordinating pricing and contracting, and providing engineering and back-office support for residential customers. This role focuses on meeting with customers interested in LED lighting, designing effective outdoor lighting solutions, and ensuring a seamless experience from initial inquiry through installation and ongoing service.
Responsibilities Meet with residential customers who wish to install LED lighting and have the charges included on their utility bill. Design comprehensive plans for outdoor light installations, including the placement of lights, poles, wiring, and related facilities. Use the JETS program to prepare estimates and order required materials for lighting projects. Prepare detailed lighting agreements that clearly outline terms, conditions, and project specifics for residential customers.
Coordinate and facilitate interaction between sales, operations, materials, and maintenance teams to ensure timely and accurate project execution. Respond promptly and professionally to customer requests and inquiries related to outdoor lighting solutions. Support customer satisfaction by resolving issues, answering questions, and providing ongoing account management for lighting customers. Demonstrate consistent adherence to high ethical standards and a strong commitment to compliance in all sales and customer interactions.
Build and maintain productive internal and external relationships to support sales growth and customer retention. Manage multiple lighting projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, quality standards, and customer expectations are met. Essential Skills Demonstrated sales skills with a focus on customer satisfaction and solution-based selling. Proven account management experience, including managing multiple customer relationships and projects concurrently.
Experience in or knowledge of the utility industry, particularly lighting power distribution and lighting equipment. Experience with or knowledge of outdoor lighting products, rates, and contracts. Strong customer service skills, with the ability to respond effectively to customer requests and concerns. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills for researching customer data and creating detailed analyses and sales proposals.
Ability to use tools such as the JETS program or similar systems to estimate and order materials. Solid understanding of organizational operations, policies, and procedures within a utility or similar environment. Strong organizational and computer skills to manage documentation, proposals, and project tracking. Ability to manage multiple projects and work with multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated ethical conduct and a strong commitment to compliance. Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships that support sales and customer service objectives. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or a related field is highly preferred. Experience in a customer service organization or power delivery environment is preferred.
Ally development experience, including collaborating with internal partners and external stakeholders, is beneficial. Familiarity with outdoor lighting agreements, pricing structures, and contract terms is advantageous. Work Environment This role is based in the Tuscaloosa (Western Division) and Anniston (Eastern Division) areas, with a mix of in-office and field work, approximately 30% in-office and 70% in the field. The position involves frequent on-site visits to reside
