Job Title: Entry Level Machine Operator Location: Easton, MA Pay: $20 - $22 (depends on experience) Shift: 7am - 3:30 Job Description This role operates rewind and rolling machines in a printing environment to convert large rolls of labels and stickers into smaller rolls according to detailed work orders. You will load and unload rolls, input job specifications into the machine interface, and ensure that each finished roll meets the required size, quantity, and quality standards.
The position requires strong attention to detail, consistent use of basic math, and the ability to follow written work orders accurately in a fast-paced production setting. Responsibilities Load large rolls of labels and stickers onto the rewind and rolling machines in accordance with written work orders. Input job specifications, including quantities and sizes, into the machine screen and verify that settings match the work order requirements.
Monitor the rewinder as it breaks down large rolls into smaller rolls, ensuring correct counts, measurements, and alignment. Use basic math and measurements to confirm that rolls are broken down accurately and meet specified dimensions and quantities. Continuously load and unload product from the machine using hands and basic hand tools as needed. Inspect finished rolls for quality, including correct label placement, roll tightness, and absence of visible defects.
Pack and prepare finished rolls for further processing or shipment, following established packaging procedures. Assist with machine setup, adjustments, and minor mechanical tasks to keep production running smoothly. Follow all written work orders on paper and clarify any discrepancies before starting a job. Maintain an organized and clean work area around the rewinding machines. Work collaboratively with the rewinder lead and other team members on the production floor to meet daily production goals.
Adapt to a fast-paced production schedule, moving efficiently between tasks and different jobs listed on the daily whiteboard. Follow safety procedures while operating machines and handling materials. Essential Skills Ability to read and understand written work orders in English. Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction, for verifying counts and measurements. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
Mechanical aptitude and a mechanically inclined mindset for operating and adjusting production machines. Experience or comfort with machine operation, particularly in a production or manufacturing setting. Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively while working with machines. Attention to detail to ensure rolls are broken down correctly according to size and quantity specifications. Reliability and dedication, including consistent attendance and punctuality.
Willingness to follow instructions, learn new processes, and complete training with the rewinder lead. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in printing, print press, or printing machine operation is highly preferred but not required. Experience in production, general production, or general labor work. Experience with machine operations such as slitter, roller, rolling machine, label machine, or other production machines.
Comfort working with measurements and using basic measurement tools. Experience with packaging and packing finished products. Strong team-player attitude and willingness to support others on the production floor. Openness to learning new skills and processes, even with limited prior experience.
