Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description This role focuses on installing, troubleshooting, and repairing production machinery and facility equipment on a 3rd shift schedule. You will perform both emergency and scheduled maintenance to reduce downtime, complete mechanical and basic facility repairs, and ensure all work meets safety and GMP standards. The position requires strong hands-on technical skills, the ability to interpret manuals and work orders, and a commitment to keeping equipment operating efficiently.
Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, and repair production machines and facility equipment to ensure reliable operation. Conduct emergency maintenance on production equipment to quickly resolve breakdowns and minimize downtime. Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on machines and plant facilities according to maintenance plans. Carry out mechanical duties including machining, welding, and the safe use of hand and power tools.
Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documentation, and work orders to plan and execute maintenance tasks. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, and electrical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Replace worn or damaged parts and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal equipment performance and efficiency. Maintain facility systems such as plumbing and carpentry as needed to support production and building operations.
Perform facilities maintenance tasks including snow removal and other seasonal upkeep as required. Comply with all safety regulations, GMP requirements, and company policies while maintaining clean and organized work areas. Coordinate with external technicians and service providers for complex or specialized repairs, ensuring timely completion. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and preventive work accurately in maintenance records or systems.
Communicate equipment status, issues, and completed work clearly to supervisors and relevant team members. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues and suggesting maintenance or process enhancements. Essential Skills At least 4 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, working with production machinery and facility equipment. At least 4 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, including repair and adjustment of mechanical systems.
Minimum 3 years of experience performing preventive and preventative maintenance on industrial equipment and facilities. Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, and electrical systems. Hands-on experience with repair and maintenance in a manufacturing environment. Ability to perform basic electrical work and PLC troubleshooting for equipment issues. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for maintenance tasks.
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and work orders. Experience with facilities maintenance tasks such as plumbing and general building upkeep. Capability to work independently on 3rd shift and manage multiple maintenance tasks and priorities. Strong commitment to safety practices and adherence to GMP standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Janesville, WI.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
