Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician maintains and optimizes robots and automated machinery, ensuring reliable operation of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding systems across the facility. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and improving automated and manual equipment, performing both corrective and preventive maintenance, and supporting production through accurate programming and adjustment of robotic and PLC-controlled systems.
Responsibilities Maintain robots and automated machinery to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Troubleshoot, adjust, and teach robot software and path programming to correct issues and optimize performance. Install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers and wiring, along with electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment, accurately documenting all maintenance activities performed.
Dismantle defective machines and equipment, then install new or repaired parts to restore functionality. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other mechanical components to reduce wear and extend equipment life. Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related hydraulic and pneumatic components.
Follow and support the preventative maintenance program to reduce downtime and prevent equipment failures. Assist with tools, fixtures, material flow, and changeovers to support efficient production processes. Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed for equipment repair and modification. Troubleshoot robotic equipment using push buttons, press keys on robot controllers and teach pendants when equipment is out of sync.
Program and adjust programmable controllers to operate automated machinery, including robots and automated welding systems. Prepare and adjust robot programs and automated welding parameters to meet quality and production requirements. Analyze robotically welded products to determine necessary adjustments to robot programs and welding parameters. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on all equipment, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
Troubleshoot and program PLCs, including Motoman systems, to support automated processes and resolve control issues. Install and maintain mechanical and electrical components on automated and manual equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems, low-voltage electrical systems, and high-voltage electrical wiring. Perform robotic troubleshooting, robotic preventive maintenance, and ladder logic programming for control systems.
Read, interpret, and analyze technical schematics and blueprints to guide installation, maintenance, and repair work. Work safely with electrical systems up to 480 volts, including three-phase power. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot VFDs, photoeyes, sensors, and contactors used in industrial control systems. Support conveyor systems, motors, and related equipment through installation, repair, and ongoing maintenance.
Document work performed and communicate equipment status to relevant stakeholders to support smooth operations. Essential Skills Strong experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting in an industrial environment. Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and programming, including experience with Motoman systems. Hands-on experience with robotics, including robot programming, path adjustments, and teaching functions.
