Mechanic / Service Technician (Entry to Experienced) | 1st Shift Build Your Skills While Working on Real-World Projects We’re hiring a Mechanic / Service Technician to maintain and support equipment used at major events, job sites, and critical operations . This role offers hands-on experience with mechanical, diesel, electrical, and hydraulic systems —plus the opportunity to grow in a field service role .
Start local, gain experience, and then transition into service work at event sites and client locations . What You’ll Do Inspect, prep, and test equipment for customer use Load, deliver, set up, and retrieve equipment at local job sites and events Train customers on safe operation and basic troubleshooting Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems Troubleshoot diesel engines, generators, and related equipment Work with hydraulic systems and electrical components (including 3-phase power) Clean, refuel, inspect, and restock returned equipment Tag and route equipment for repair when needed Order parts and manage basic inventory Maintain shop, yard, and company vehicles Document service work and resolve issues quickly What We’re Looking For Mechanically inclined candidates (entry-level welcome) Experience in automotive repair, diesel, construction equipment, or similar OR Trade school training OR Hands-on mechanical hobby/experience Ability to use hand and power tools safely Basic understanding of mechanical systems (engines, hydraulics, etc.) Willingness to learn electrical systems (training available) Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or on a team Preferred Diesel engine troubleshooting experience Exposure to hydraulics Experience with generators or electrical systems Customer-facing or field service experience Why You’ll Love This Job Clear growth path into Field Service Technician roles Work on unique, high-impact projects (music festivals, military support, disaster relief) Family-owned company with a strong, supportive culture Hands-on learning and skill development across multiple systems Full benefits + 401(k) for long-term stability Schedule & Work Environment 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Overtime: Typically 5–10 hours/week (varies by workload) Combination of shop work and local travel (after training) Active, hands-on role in yard, shop, and field environments Apply Today If you enjoy working with your hands, solving problems, and being part of a team that supports high-visibility projects and real-world operations , this is your opportunity to grow.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Johnsburg, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
