Job Title: NDT Technician - Based out of Atlanta GA Pay up to 46 per hour plus per diem Job Description The NDT Technician performs visual testing (VT) and magnetic particle testing (MT) on materials in accordance with established procedures, codes, standards, and specifications. This role sets up and operates nondestructive testing equipment, identifies and evaluates indications, and removes detected discontinuities using a handheld grinder while working safely in demanding industrial environments.

Responsibilities Perform VT and MT examinations of materials in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and specifications. Set up, calibrate, and utilize nondestructive testing (NDT) equipment required for VT and MT inspections. Interpret and evaluate inspection results to identify, characterize, and document discontinuities. Operate a handheld grinder to remove detected discontinuities in accordance with approved procedures.

Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain documentation of testing activities, results, and certifications. Collaborate with other departments and customers to report issues, communicate findings, and support problem-solving efforts. Apply working knowledge of industrial environments and general manufacturing processes during inspection activities. Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in industrial and shipyard-like environments.

Perform work at heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, and man-baskets as required by the job. Enter and work in confined spaces that may require crawling, stooping, climbing, and other physical activities. Work around operating equipment and within active industrial environments while maintaining situational awareness and safe practices. Support extended work schedules, including shifts up to 12 hours per day and up to 7 days per week, and travel for extended periods as needed.

Essential Skills Certified Level II VT/MT Technician who meets the minimum requirements of an NDT Level II in visual testing and magnetic particle testing. Ability to provide documentation of education, training, and experience in the applicable NDT methods (VT and MT). Demonstrated experience performing VT and MT examinations in accordance with procedures, codes, standards, and specifications. Proficiency in setting up and utilizing NDT testing equipment for VT and MT methods.

Ability to operate a handheld grinder safely to remove detected discontinuities. Working knowledge of industrial environments and general manufacturing processes. Ability to work effectively with other departments and customers to report issues and resolve problems. Physical ability to work at heights on scaffolding, ladders, elevated platforms, and man-baskets. Ability to work in confined spaces that require crawling, stooping, climbing, and similar activities.

Capability to work around operating equipment and within active industrial environments. Ability to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and up to 7 days per week, and to travel for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds. Eligibility and willingness to meet per diem requirements, including working a minimum of 40 hours per week and being more than 50 miles from permanent residence when applicable.

Additional Skills & Qualifications NAVSEA and/or shipyard work experience is a plus. Additional NDT certifications beyond VT and MT are a plus. Experience working in heavy industrial, manufacturing, or shipyard environments is beneficial. Strong communication skills to clearly report findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Attention to detail and strong documentation skills for accurate recording of inspection results.
