Job Title: Phlebotomist II - Henderson Whitney Ranch Job Description The primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to support various tasks, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and suggest workflow improvements. This position requires expertise in blood collection and specimen handling to ensure high-quality patient care and diagnostic results. Responsibilities Perform blood collections using venipuncture and capillary techniques for patients of all ages.
Collect specimens for various tests, including drug screens, paternity tests, and alcohol tests. Accurately enter patient information and process billing details. Prepare and package collected specimens for testing and analysis according to protocol. Maintain patient and specimen information logs. Provide outstanding customer service to all patients. Execute administrative and clerical duties as needed.
Travel to additional sites when required. Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, where applicable. Minimum of 3 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Reliable transportation and a clean driving record if applicable. Flexibility to work overtime as needed. Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test. Work Environment This role is based in a medium-sized Patient Service Center, where phlebotomists perform an average of 100 draws daily, shared among a team of four. The work environment serves a diverse patient population, including pediatrics and geriatrics, ranging from newborns to elderly patients.
The role requires standing for the majority of the shift and involves working collaboratively with a team. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30am-3:30pm, with the first week dedicated to orientation and training. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
