Job Title: Pipe Welder Job Description This role focuses on performing high-quality pipe welding using advanced welding equipment in a busy fabrication environment. You plan and execute welding procedures, inspect finished work for accuracy and quality, and contribute to continuous improvement of safety, efficiency, and welding standards. Responsibilities Set up and safely operate advanced welding equipment for pipe welding applications.
Plan welding procedures and work sequences to meet project specifications and deadlines. Perform MIG, flux core, TIG, and pipe welding on vessels or heat exchangers as required. Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to complete welds accurately. Inspect finished welds and fabricated products to ensure completeness, structural integrity, and quality standards. Troubleshoot welding machines and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
Help improve welding procedures to increase safety, efficiency, and overall weld quality. Use intermediate math skills and measurement tools, including tape measures, to ensure precise fit-up and fabrication. Follow basic safety training and shop safety protocols at all times. Successfully complete and maintain proficiency in required weld tests, including Open Root 3G MIG/Flux Core Fill & Cap and 6G TIG Root/Flux Fill & Cap on 2" Schedule 160 pipe.
Essential Skills Minimum 2 years of MIG and flux core welding experience on vessels or heat exchangers. Proficiency in MIG welding, flux core welding, TIG welding, and pipe welding. Ability to pass an Open Root 3G MIG/Flux Core Fill & Cap weld test. Ability to pass a 6G TIG Root/Flux Fill & Cap weld test on 2" Schedule 160 pipe. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
Basic safety training and consistent adherence to safety procedures. Intermediate math skills for layout, measurement, and fit-up. Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure. Skill in fitting and fabrication related to pipe welding projects. Ability to troubleshoot and adjust welding machines as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a weld shop or fabrication environment.
Comfort working extended hours and handling a high volume of welding work. Attention to detail and strong focus on weld quality and completeness. Work Environment The role is based in a non-climate-controlled weld shop with a high-production atmosphere. The position operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with regular Saturday work, totaling approximately 60–70 hours per week.
You work with advanced welding equipment, including MIG, flux core, and TIG processes on pipe and fabricated components, in a setting that requires appropriate protective workwear suitable for a fabrication shop. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Catoosa, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
