Pipefitter Location: Portland, OR Pay: Up to $35/hour Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (occasional Saturdays as needed) Job Overview We are seeking experienced Pipefitters to join a leading shipyard in Portland, OR. This role involves installing, modifying, testing, and maintaining piping systems aboard surface ships, submarines, dry docks, piers, and shop facilities. Ideal candidates will have experience reading blueprints, interpreting technical drawings, and working with a variety of piping systems in an industrial or marine environment.
Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, and technical instructions. Plan work layouts and determine installation methods for piping systems. Install, modify, repair, and remove piping, valves, hangers, and related components. Inspect and test piping systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with specifications. Utilize trade mathematics to calculate flow rates, measurements, and system requirements.
Follow shipyard safety procedures, ventilation requirements, and industry standards. Perform temporary pipe service installation and removal aboard ships, submarines, dry docks, and pier-side facilities. Required Qualifications Previous pipefitting experience in an industrial, marine, shipyard, manufacturing, or construction environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals.
Knowledge of piping systems, valves, fittings, and installation procedures. Strong understanding of measurements, layout work, and trade mathematics. Preferred Qualifications Shipyard or marine industry experience. Welding or fabrication experience. Experience working aboard vessels or in industrial facilities. Additional Requirements Must be able to obtain shipyard access. Must possess a valid Birth Certificate or Passport for entry into the Portland shipyard.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
