Job Title: Production Process Operator Job Description The Production Process Operator monitors and controls critical processing equipment on 2nd and 3rd shift to ensure products consistently meet food safety and quality standards before they move into full production. This role oversees automated systems, uses human–machine interfaces (HMI) to track production data, and maintains key processing parameters such as temperatures, flow rates, and pressures within defined specifications throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities Operate processing equipment safely and efficiently while monitoring the process through HMI and computerized control systems. Continuously track and record temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and other production parameters to ensure they remain within specified limits. Identify process abnormalities or deviations and take timely corrective actions to maintain product quality and food safety standards.
Monitor production screens and respond promptly to alarms, alerts, or process changes. Ensure products are produced in accordance with established recipes, specifications, and batch requirements. Perform equipment washdowns, sanitation procedures, and Clean-In-Place (CIP) processes as required to maintain hygienic conditions. Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain consistent output.
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as well as food safety, product quality, and workplace safety standards at all times. Accurately complete required documentation and production records within the documentation system. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with other departments to support smooth production operations. Essential Skills Previous experience in manufacturing, production, process operation, food manufacturing, chemical processing, or machine operation preferred.
Comfort using computers and monitoring automated production systems and HMI interfaces. Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize and react quickly to process changes. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for equipment and process issues. Ability to follow detailed operating procedures, GMP, and quality standards consistently. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience with food production, food quality, and raw material testing and handling. Ability to operate machines and production equipment safely and effectively. Familiarity with documentation systems and basic computer operation within a manufacturing environment. Understanding of sanitation practices, including equipment washdowns and the use of cleaning chemicals in a production setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a food-grade manufacturing facility.
Experience in chemical processing or quality assurance in a production environment. Knowledge of product quality standards and food safety principles. Experience with Clean-In-Place (CIP) processes and sanitation procedures. Exposure to automated manufacturing processes and computerized control systems. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment. Comfort working on 2nd and 3rd shift schedules.
