Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Quality Engineer to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of impactful quality initiatives and gain exposure to customers, suppliers, and manufacturing programs on a global scale. The ideal candidate will support customer and supplier quality, collaborate with teams, and manage documentation and reporting processes to ensure high-quality standards are met.
Responsibilities Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, and corrective action processes. Support and maintain ISO 9001 compliance. Conduct internal, supplier, process, and product quality audits. Support customer and third-party audits. Investigate customer concerns and communicate findings to all stakeholders. Manage product containment, sorting, and rework activities.
Issue, track, and drive supplier corrective actions. Participate in APQP and new product launch activities. Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Follow all safety policies and maintain a safe work environment. Build positive customer relationships through proactive problem solving. Support the Quality team in resolving customer quality issues. Provide technical expertise for new products, operations, and customer support.
Apply quality assurance and continuous improvement best practices. Train, mentor, and support less experienced team members. Consider the broader business impact when making decisions. Develop and maintain customer-ready PPAP documentation packages. Utilize inventory management systems to complete transactions and generate reports. Track and report quality metrics and performance data as needed. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
APQP experience. Statistical analysis experience. Statistical Process Control (SPC) software experience. ISO 9001 experience. PPAP experience. Experience in the use of basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.). Problem-solving using 8D and 5 Why methodologies. Ability to travel up to 25%. Additional Skills & Qualifications Fastener experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Exposure to the Automotive and/or Heavy Truck industry. Ability to work under remote or offsite supervision. Experience working under ISO and IATF management systems. Gage Calibration experience. Experience with Optical Comparator, Hardness Tester, and Plug Gages. Exposure to Lean & Six Sigma methodologies. Quality management system or supplier process/product audit experience. Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing/warehouse environment, working Monday to Friday with flexible hours from 8 am to 5 pm, totaling 40+ hours per week.
The role may require occasional travel, up to 25%, primarily local or domestic. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
