Job Title: Revit Technician Job Description The Revit Technician supports coordinated BIM and fabrication efforts by managing Autodesk Revit models, cloud services, and related workflows across coordination, project management, and fabrication teams. This role focuses on maintaining and improving Revit processes, creating and reviewing fabrication drawings, supporting project-specific planning, and providing ongoing training and technical support to team members and subcontractors.
Responsibilities Coordinate Autodesk Revit models in collaboration with coordination, project management, and fabrication departments to support accurate and efficient project delivery. Moderate and maintain Autodesk cloud services through effective file management and model creation to ensure data integrity and accessibility. Develop new processes and refine existing workflows to meet evolving coordination, fabrication, and project-specific requirements.
Regularly update and maintain BIM content to support successful operations, including keeping customizations current and improving the Revit template based on lessons learned from projects. Use Revit APIs with appropriate integrated development environments to support and enhance mechanical plugins and related tools. Identify, resolve, and correct Revit issues and bugs reported by coordination teams and subcontractors, particularly those related to drawing routines and drawing creation.
Evaluate the need and feasibility of software upgrades and interoperability for Autodesk products, including AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, and Revit, to maintain and improve existing company processes. Manage and complete Revit deployments on workstations for new and existing team members, ensuring proper installation and configuration. Develop, maintain, and teach the process for creating Revit spool drawings to internal staff and subcontractors, ensuring consistency and quality.
Review final fabrication drawings for accuracy, readability, installation feasibility, code compliance, adherence to company standards, and alignment with fabrication shop requirements, including labels and bills of materials. Monitor project schedules, follow up on progress, and provide assistance as needed to help meet schedule dates and fabrication demands. Collaborate with fabrication leadership to identify and implement solutions to issues arising in the fabrication process.
Participate in project-specific fabrication planning with superintendents, coordination, fabrication, and project management teams to identify fabrication opportunities, details, and timelines. Provide daily training and technical Revit support to BIM team members and subcontractors, offering clear guidance on processes and commands to help them complete tasks efficiently and accurately. Essential Skills Minimum 3 years of CAD experience in plumbing and mechanical disciplines.
Minimum 3 years of Revit experience in plumbing and mechanical disciplines. Ability to read and interpret construction contract documents with accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft and Autodesk products related to BIM workflows. Strong knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and sheet metal trades and their application in construction and fabrication. Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical, effective solutions.
High level of detail orientation when working with models, drawings, and documentation. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple models, files, and project priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and subcontractors. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience creating and managing Revit spool drawings for fabrication.
