Job Title: Senior Drafter Job Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Drafter to join our dynamic technical design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed fabrication drawings, architectural millwork packages, fixture shop drawings, and production documentation for luxury retail environments, custom displays, and experiential installations. This role requires a strong expertise in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks, architectural millwork detailing, and manufacturing practices.
The Senior Drafter will collaborate closely with project managers, designers, engineers, production teams, and clients to ensure projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. Responsibilities Create detailed shop drawings, fabrication packages, assembly details, and construction documents. Convert design concepts, sketches, and renderings into production-ready drawings. Produce millwork, cabinetry, metal, fixture, and display drawings for fabrication.
Develop plans, elevations, sections, details, BOMs, and installation drawings. Review architectural and design documents to identify potential conflicts and constructability concerns. Coordinate with project managers, designers, engineers, vendors, and production personnel. Conduct field verification and site measurements when required. Revise drawings throughout design development and production phases.
Ensure drawings comply with client specifications, industry standards, and manufacturing requirements. Support estimating, procurement, and manufacturing teams with technical information. Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and documentation. Mentor junior drafters and assist in establishing drafting standards and best practices. Essential Skills 7+ years of drafting, detailing, or technical design experience.
Experience producing architectural millwork and custom fixture shop drawings. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD. Strong understanding of construction methods, fabrication processes, and manufacturing workflows. Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications. Experience developing production-ready documentation with a high level of accuracy. Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, Rhino, SketchUp, or similar 3D modeling software. Retail fixture, luxury retail, visual merchandising, or experiential design experience. Knowledge of wood, metal, acrylic, glass, and mixed-material fabrication. CNC manufacturing and production experience.
BIM or advanced 3D modeling experience. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related field. Work Environment The position is based in a beautiful office in Farmingdale, equipped with Mac work stations and a CNC warehouse. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Farmingdale, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $110000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
