Job Title: Senior Project Engineer Job Description The Senior Project Engineer supports the full lifecycle of commercial construction projects, from preconstruction through closeout. This role collaborates closely with Project Managers, field teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within scope. The position offers clear growth opportunities into project management while providing exposure to specialized market niches such as biopharma, healthcare, and industrial construction.

Responsibilities Interpret technical construction documents, drawings, and specifications to support accurate execution in the field. Support day-to-day field operations and assist with on-site coordination of subcontractors and trades. Track and manage RFIs, submittals, takeoffs, and change orders to maintain accurate project documentation and cost control. Assist in developing, updating, and monitoring project schedules to keep work on track and aligned with milestones.

Maintain organized document control, including plans, logs, and project records, to ensure information is current and accessible. Prepare and contribute to daily reporting, including progress updates, issues, and field conditions, for internal and client communication. Coordinate procurement activities, including material takeoffs and tracking of deliveries, to support uninterrupted field operations.

Collaborate with field teams and clients to communicate project status, resolve issues, and support customer-focused outcomes. Help ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with project scope, quality standards, and contractual requirements. Contribute to project closeout activities by supporting final documentation, punch lists, and turnover requirements. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial tenant improvement (TI) construction projects, including office buildings, medical buildings, and life science facilities.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications. Hands-on experience with quantity takeoffs and construction estimating support. Proficiency with RFIs, submittals, document control processes, and project scheduling. Experience coordinating subcontractors and trades in the field on active construction sites.

Background in commercial and high-end retail construction environments. Experience working on office building and tenant improvement projects, including biopharma and life science spaces. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic field environment. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with field teams and clients. Demonstrated problem-solving mindset to address evolving field conditions and project challenges.

Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using construction management software such as Procore. Knowledge of procurement processes, including material takeoffs and coordination of deliveries. Exposure to biopharma, healthcare-related (including HCAI-regulated), and industrial construction projects. Interest in developing expertise in medical construction and complex technical projects. Desire for professional growth, with a clear path from Senior Project Engineer to Assistant Project Manager and eventually Project Manager.

Customer-focused approach, with an appreciation for long-term account relationships and high-quality service. Work Environment This role is primarily based on the project site in El Segundo, working Monday through Friday from approximately 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, totaling around 40 hours per week. Occasional weekend work may be required to meet project demands. The position is salaried and involves regular collaboration with field teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders in an active construction environment.
