Job Title: Service Technician Job Description This role offers the opportunity to work as a traveling service technician or shop mechanic, performing service, repair, assembly, and maintenance on a wide range of foundational rigs and heavy equipment rented to contractors. You ensure equipment is inspected, repaired, and ready for rental, and you support contractors in the field by setting up machinery and training them on proper use.

The position focuses on keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently so projects are completed on time and within budget. Responsibilities Inspect, service, and repair heavy construction and foundational equipment before it goes out for rent and after it is returned. Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on dozers, excavators, diesel hammers, vibratory hammers, air hammers, hydraulic vibro and power drop hammers, and other heavy machinery.

Assemble and set up equipment at job sites and in the shop, ensuring all systems function correctly before use. Train contractors on the safe and effective operation of dozers, Bauer rigs, rotary motor units, hydraulic top drive units, and other foundational rigs and equipment. Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

Troubleshoot equipment problems, including diesel engines, electrical systems, wiring, motors, cylinders, and hydraulic components. Perform routine service tasks such as changing motors, filters, and oil, and completing scheduled preventive maintenance checks. Carry out Kelly bar repair, tool and casing repair, gearbox/KDK repair, rigging and derigging, and general equipment troubleshooting. Use diagnostic tools, including multimeters and other measuring devices, to test and verify equipment performance.

Interact professionally with customers and contractors in the field, providing clear communication and technical support. Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in the shop and on job sites. Travel to local and remote job sites as needed, providing field service support and remaining on assignment for extended periods when required. Collaborate with shop helpers and other technicians to complete complex repairs and large assembly projects efficiently.

Document service work performed, including parts used and maintenance activities, in accordance with company standards. Essential Skills Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working on heavy equipment, diesel engines, and construction machinery. Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics accurately. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.

Experience performing preventive maintenance on heavy machinery and construction equipment. Ability to change and troubleshoot motors, including removal, installation, and testing. Proficiency in working with hydraulics, including cylinders, pumps, valves, and hydraulic controls. Experience with wiring systems and electrical system repair on heavy equipment. Capability to perform assembly and disassembly of heavy machinery and foundational rigs.

Skill in changing filters and oil and completing routine service tasks on diesel engines and hydraulic systems. Ability to use a multimeter for electrical testing and diagnostics. Comfort working with diesel repair, pneumatics, and heavy machinery such as dozers, excavators, and Caterpillar-type equipment. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when diagnosing equipment issues. Ability to interact effectively with customers and contractors in the field and in the shop.

Possession of standard mechanic tools up to ¾" drive and wrenches up to 2". Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Kelly bar repair, tool and casing repair, gearbox/KDK repair, and rigging/derigging is highly beneficial. Experience in servicing diesel hammers, vibratory hamme
