Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Coordinator Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator oversees daily shipping, receiving, and inventory control activities to support a fast-paced manufacturing operation. This role handles material flow from incoming deliveries through kitting and staging for production, and final outbound shipments to customers. The coordinator operates forklifts and related warehouse equipment, maintains accurate records in computer and ERP systems, and performs final visual quality inspections to ensure products ship on time and in good condition.
Responsibilities Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks safely and efficiently using a forklift. Receive and verify incoming materials and shipments against packing slips and shipping documents. Kit and stage materials for production teams to ensure continuous material flow. Label parts, products, pallets, and shipping containers clearly and accurately. Track inventory levels and maintain accurate shipping and receiving records.
Perform final visual inspections on products prior to shipment to verify quality and completeness. Coordinate outbound shipments and schedule carriers to ensure on-time customer delivery. Monitor shipment status, including Bills of Lading (BOL), and communicate delivery updates when needed. Enter shipping, receiving, and inventory data into computer systems and ERP platforms. Use RF scanners and other warehouse technology to support inventory control and order fulfillment.
Support order picking, packing, and packaging activities for warehouse shipping operations. Work closely with production, fabrication, and quality teams to maintain smooth material flow. Assist with logistics planning and problem-solving to address shipping or receiving issues. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in the warehouse and shipping dock. Follow established procedures for material handling, warehouse operations, and quality inspection.
Essential Skills Previous experience in shipping and receiving in a manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse, or industrial environment. Proven forklift operating experience for loading and unloading trucks and handling materials. Hands-on experience with inventory control and warehouse inventory processes. Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, Bills of Lading (BOL), packing slips, and work orders.
Proficiency with computer systems and data entry for shipping, receiving, and inventory tracking. Experience using ERP systems or inventory tracking systems for warehouse operations. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operation. Comfort working in a hot, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
Capability to perform material handling, packing, loading, unloading, and order fulfillment tasks. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools. Ability to collaborate effectively with production, fabrication, logistics, and quality teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Manufacturing or fabrication shop experience supporting production and material flow. Experience with RF scanners for inventory management and order picking.
Background in warehouse shipping, warehouse operations, or logistics coordination. Familiarity with kitting processes and staging materials for production support. Experience in quality inspection, labeling, and packaging of finished goods. Comfort working with structured procedures and documentation for shipping and receiving. Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external carriers.
