Solar General Foreman/Construction Manager (Utility-Scale Projects) Location: Candidates can live anywhere, open to candidates across the U.S. — 100% travel required Employment Type: Long-term contract-to-hire Salary: $90-100K + daily per diem Travel Perks: 100% of All flights, hotels, and rental truck are prepaid; in addition to a daily food per diem of $80 for up to 7 days a week (~additional $500 a week) About the Role Join a leading solar tracking manufacturer and installation firm as a Solar Construction Manager, where you'll serve as a subject matter expert overseeing and/or instructing subcontracting construction companies in the installation of large-scale solar tracker systems across the country.
This is a high-impact role for professionals with hands-on experience in utility-scale solar construction and a passion for delivering quality and safety. What You’ll Do Lead and manage on-site construction activities, ensuring timely and high-quality installations of solar tracking systems. Collaborate with subcontractors, electricians, and labor crews to coordinate schedules, resolve issues, and maintain safety compliance.
Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics to support installation workflows. Conduct and document safety meetings in alignment with OSHA standards. Support project planning including material takeoffs, sequencing, and subcontractor scope reviews. Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment and transparency. Provide technical guidance on electrical and mechanical components to field teams.
What We’re Looking For 4+ years of experience in utility-scale solar construction, with 2+ years in a leadership role (General Foreman, Superintendent, Construction Manager, Owner Rep, or QC Manager). Strong understanding of solar tracker systems - hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction reporting tools. Excellent problem-solving and construction math skills.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
