Job Title: Packager Job Description This role focuses on hand-packaging a variety of candy and food products in a fast-paced food production environment. You carefully package products into boxes or single units, prepare items for shipment through boxing and palletizing, and maintain quality and safety standards while standing for the entire shift and handling items that may include marshmallows and gummy candy made with gelatin.
Responsibilities Hand package different types of candy and food products with attention to quality and consistency. Package products into boxes or single packaged goods according to established specifications and counts. Prepare boxed products for shipment, including labeling, sealing, and organizing cartons. Palletize packaged products safely and efficiently to support storage and shipping processes.
Inspect products and packaging for defects or inconsistencies and remove any nonconforming items. Operate basic production and packaging equipment as directed, following all safety procedures. Lift and move boxes and materials weighing up to 20 pounds throughout the shift. Stand for the entire shift while performing production, packing, and inspection tasks. Follow all food safety, hygiene, and contamination-prevention procedures at all times.
Work with marshmallows and gummy candy made with gelatin, using gloves as needed to avoid direct contact. Adhere strictly to dress code requirements, including approved clothing and footwear for the production floor. Comply with all facility rules, including restrictions on personal items such as jewelry and cell phones. Wear required protective gear such as masks, hairnets, and beard nets when on the production floor.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area. Follow written and verbal instructions accurately to meet production goals and timelines. Essential Skills Ability to perform general labor tasks in a production or packaging environment. Experience in production, packing, inspection, machine operation, or packaging; 6 months of production experience is ideal but not required.
Capability to stand for an entire shift while performing repetitive tasks. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds safely and repeatedly. Willingness to work with marshmallows and gummy candy made with gelatin, with the option to wear gloves to avoid direct contact. Strong attention to detail to ensure proper packaging, labeling, and quality standards. Reliability in following safety, hygiene, and dress code requirements in a food production environment.
Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a structured, process-driven setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in food production or packaging environments is helpful but not mandatory. Comfort working with basic production and packaging machinery under supervision. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and support collective production goals.
