Job Title: Superintendent  CONTRACT: 1 month LOCAL ONLY, NO PER DIEM Job Description This Superintendent role focuses on supporting the close-out and punchlist activities for a Field House construction project in Swansea, IL. You will coordinate and supervise construction crews and subcontractors, ensure safety and quality standards are met, and help drive the project to successful completion. The position offers the opportunity to work on government-related projects that are less impacted by economic volatility, with an expected project duration of approximately six months and potential for long-term continuation.

Responsibilities Assist with punchlist items and contribute to the complete close-out of the Field House project. Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of construction workers and subcontractors on site. Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, and applicable building codes. Monitor project progress, identify deviations from the plan, and report issues promptly. Help manage project schedules and deadlines to keep work on track.

Assist in the procurement and delivery of construction materials and equipment. Conduct on-site inspections and quality checks to maintain high construction standards. Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to support smooth project execution. Contribute to on-site problem-solving and conflict resolution to minimize disruptions. Maintain accurate project documentation and records, including schedules, reports, and quality control logs.

Support construction management activities related to ground-up and renovation work, including steel structures and commercial construction. Participate in subcontractor management and general contractor coordination to ensure efficient workflow. Promote and reinforce construction safety practices across the site. Essential Skills Strong interest in the construction industry with a desire to grow in construction management and supervision.

Experience or familiarity with site construction, renovation, and commercial construction environments. Ability to coordinate and supervise construction workers and subcontractors effectively. Understanding of construction management principles and general contractor operations. Basic understanding of construction procedures, material management, and project scheduling. Knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA-related safety standards.

Ability to monitor project progress and support quality control activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse project stakeholders. Ability to work effectively both in a team setting and independently on assigned tasks. Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced construction environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Basic proficiency in construction management software, such as Procore or similar platforms, is a plus.

Experience with ground-up construction and steel structure projects is beneficial. Background in subcontractor management and construction supervision is advantageous. Exposure to federal government or government-related construction projects is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assist with conflict resolution on site. Attention to detail in maintaining project documentation and records.

Interest in working on projects that are less impacted by economic volatility. Work Environment This role is based on an active construction site for a U-Haul project in Swansea, IL. Expected length is one month. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Swansea, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $57.69/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
