Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent Build Critical Infrastructure Projects Across Westchester County Position Overview The Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily field operations on heavy civil and site development projects throughout Westchester County. This role will lead field crews and subcontractors while managing excavation, underground utilities, grading, drainage, paving, concrete, and infrastructure construction activities.
Key Responsibilities Lead all day-to-day field operations on heavy civil construction projects. Supervise crews performing excavation, grading, drainage, utility installation, paving, milling, and concrete work. Coordinate closely with Project Managers to develop schedules, work plans, and site logistics. Manage subcontractors, equipment utilization, material deliveries, and project sequencing. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
Monitor project progress, productivity, budgets, and schedules while proactively addressing issues. Review plans, specifications, and project documents to ensure work is completed accurately. Support RFIs, change orders, inspections, and construction documentation. Mentor Foremen, Operators, and Laborers to build strong and productive teams. Oversee utility installation projects including water, sewer, drainage, gas, and electrical infrastructure.
Maintain quality standards and ensure work meets project specifications and regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience. 5+ years as a Superintendent managing field operations. Strong background in earthwork, excavation, grading, drainage, paving, underground utilities, and concrete construction. Proven ability to lead crews and subcontractors on complex civil projects.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Experience managing projects ranging from small site work assignments to multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects. OSHA 10 and First Aid certifications required. OSHA 30 certification preferred. Valid driver's license and ability to travel between job sites. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience Water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Public works and municipal construction projects. Utility construction involving water, sewer, stormwater, gas, and electrical systems. Westchester County permitting, inspections, and regulatory requirements. Preconstruction planning and utility coordination. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Vernon, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
