Job Title: Technical Product Manager – Manufacturing Industrialization Job Description The Technical Product Manager – Manufacturing Industrialization owns the technical roadmap for production scale-up, process development, and manufacturing automation. This role defines the engineering requirements, tooling, and equipment specifications needed to industrialize new manufacturing capabilities, ensuring that production lines meet throughput, capacity, quality, and cost targets.
The position serves as the technical bridge between engineering, production, quality, and supply chain, driving design-for-manufacturing excellence and enabling reliable, scalable manufacturing operations. Responsibilities Own the technical roadmap for production scale-up, process development, and manufacturing automation to industrialize new manufacturing capabilities. Translate production throughput and capacity targets into detailed facility layouts, production line concepts, tooling strategies, and workstation specifications.
Define composite fabrication tooling and process parameters, including layup tool sets, takt-time targets, and cure and bond cycles, to meet validated production rate commitments. Specify, commission, and stand up automated production cells such as robotic trimming and finishing cells, CNC machining centers, and automated inspection systems including CMMs. Partner with equipment vendors and integrators to define requirements, oversee integration, and validate performance of automation and manufacturing equipment.
Lead technical planning for propulsion and subsystem integration across multiple engine and powertrain configurations, coordinating with domestic suppliers on qualification and capacity. Develop and validate rate-increase and surge-capacity plans, defining the technical exercises, data collection, and analysis needed to demonstrate production readiness. Serve as the technical lead interfacing with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve design-for-manufacturing issues that affect cost, schedule, or producibility.
Define technical training and certification requirements for new production processes and equipment to ensure safe, consistent, and capable operations. Support new product development by providing manufacturing input on product design, materials, processes, and tooling throughout the product lifecycle. Create, review, and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and related engineering documentation to support accurate configuration control and production planning.
Apply structured project management practices to plan, prioritize, and deliver manufacturing industrialization projects on time and within scope. Communicate technical plans, risks, and trade-offs clearly to internal leadership, government customers, and vendors or suppliers. Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization, quality, and throughput using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
Navigate and constructively manage conflict and tension while driving changes to established processes within a tenured production team. Essential Skills 10+ years of experience in facility, factory, or manufacturing layout design and implementation in environments such as appliances, part production, production assembly, or automotive. Proven experience in new product development, product management, and project management within a manufacturing or industrialization context.
Strong bakground in process development, engineering, and product development for production environments. Hands-on experience with facility layout, factory layout, and workstation design to support efficient manufacturing flows. Demonstrated expertise in automation design, automation systems, and automation implementation for production operations. Strong technical fluency across manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment, with the ability to write and evaluate detailed technical specifications.
Proven ability to translate production capacit
