Job Title: Torque Technician Job Description The Torque Technician supports high-volume manufacturing production lines by ensuring all torque tools, processes, and audits operate reliably and within specification. This role focuses heavily on torque-related tooling, software and systems, and requires strong technical competency, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work with minimal supervision while collaborating closely with engineering, quality, maintenance, and production teams.

Responsibilities Support production lines on all tool-related issues, ensuring torque tools and systems operate correctly and efficiently. Perform daily torque audits per schedule on A, B, and C class joints, following all static and dynamic audit procedures. Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, applying knowledge of GD&T standards to torque applications. Establish and validate P-Sets based on engineering drawings and apply them to the appropriate torque monitor.

Manage and comply with the scheduled calibration program for all production tools to maintain accuracy and reliability. Maintain proper labeling and identification for all production tooling to ensure traceability and correct usage. Adhere to safety and ergonomic standards when establishing, setting, adjusting, and replacing tools on the production line. Assist manufacturing and quality engineering teams with pilot builds, providing torque expertise and tool setup support.

Identify, establish, and purchase proper tools required for production and torque-related applications. Implement fastener run-down strategies and coordinate with relevant systems, including communication with PinPoint. Set up, maintain, and monitor torque databases and audit routes for each product model to ensure comprehensive coverage. Review torque results regularly and notify leadership of any trends, deviations, or out-of-spec conditions.

Create torque-to-failure studies and joint analysis reports based on engineering and quality assurance requests. Assist production with additional duties such as RMO support, sorting, inspection, and troubleshooting torque-related issues. Support rework operations by programming tools and creating appropriate torque audit strategies for reworked components. Train operators on proper tool usage and ensure compliance with sign-off verification sheets and audit requirements.

Communicate with multiple tool suppliers to confirm correct applications of torque tools and resolve technical questions. Assist maintenance teams with preventive maintenance and tool repair activities for all torque tools. Multitask across lines and projects while meeting production, quality, and engineering needs. Work collaboratively with others, using strong people skills to solve issues and improve torque-related processes.

Essential Skills Minimum of 6 months experience as a Torque Specialist or equivalent external experience with DC torque tools. 3–5 years of manufacturing experience in a high-volume assembly or related environment. High school diploma or GED equivalency required. Strong knowledge of computers and the ability to troubleshoot processes, products, and tool issues. Understanding of torque concepts, torque monitoring equipment, pneumatic tools, and electric tools.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints with knowledge of GD&T standards. Technically competent with torque tools and related software and systems. Demonstrated problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to make sound decisions independently. Good organizational, leadership, and communication skills to coordinate across production, engineering, and quality teams. Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
