Job Title: Traveling Superintendent Job Description This Traveling Superintendent role oversees fast-paced, ground-up and tenant build-out construction projects for quick serve restaurant and retail locations across a regional territory. The superintendent manages all daily on-site construction activities, coordinates subcontractors, schedules utilities and inspections, and ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

The position requires strong field leadership, disciplined planning, and comfort operating in 60–90 day project cycles while using FieldLens and Procore on a Microsoft Surface Pro for daily reporting. Responsibilities Oversee all daily construction activities on-site for ground-up and tenant build-out projects, including site work and civil coordination. Work closely with the Project Manager to drive overall project progress, ensuring alignment with schedule, budget, and quality expectations.

Plan and manage the scheduling of subcontractors, utilities, inspections, and the delivery of equipment and materials to maintain project momentum. Collaborate with subcontractors to complete projects within the established budget and time frame, proactively resolving issues that impact schedule or cost. Produce and maintain disciplined short-term schedules, including detailed two-week look-ahead plans that coordinate trades, materials, and inspections.

Assess the work of subcontractors and on-site crews, identify deficiencies, and direct corrective actions to meet project specifications and standards. Create thorough, accurate daily field log reports using FieldLens and Procore on a Microsoft Surface Pro, documenting progress, issues, and safety observations. Ensure and maintain a safe work environment that complies with OSHA standards, promoting safety practices and enforcing site safety requirements.

Schedule and coordinate all required inspections with local authorities and stakeholders, ensuring timely approvals and adherence to codes and regulations. Provide active, hands-on site leadership, maintaining physical presence across the job site to monitor work, address questions, and support crews. Represent the general contractor professionally in client-facing interactions with owners, tenants, inspectors, and other external stakeholders.

Rely on experience and judgment to plan, sequence, and accomplish project goals, adapting to changing conditions and multiple moving parts in fast-paced environments. Assist with finish work as needed, including carpentry-related tasks such as door hanging, caulking, décor installation, and trim installation. Transition efficiently between multiple short-duration projects annually, maintaining consistency in quality, documentation, and safety practices.

Report to a Division Manager and provide regular updates on schedule, budget, risks, and site conditions. Travel regionally to project sites, typically for projects lasting around three months, with the ability to return home on weekends as project and location allow. Work onsite five days per week and be willing to work some Saturdays when crews are onsite to maintain or recover schedule. Essential Skills Proven ground-up construction experience, including site work and civil coordination, with a minimum of three completed ground-up projects.

Background in quick serve restaurant, retail, or commercial construction, with familiarity in fast-paced project delivery. Regional home base in or near Indiana, with ability to travel regularly to projects across Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, or western Ohio. Willingness and ability to travel for projects, typically in ~3-month cycles, with flexibility to return home on weekends, every other weekend, or travel with a trailer or similar arrangement.
