Job Title: Warehouse Associate Job Description The Warehouse Associate plays a key role in shipping, receiving, and material handling operations within a modern, clean, and highly organized facility. This position prepares products by skid, crate, or box for shipment, processes routine and standard shipping paperwork, supports assembly through repackaging and kitting, and helps maintain a safe and efficient warehouse environment.
Responsibilities Prepare products by skid, crate, or box for shipment and complete routine, standard shipping paperwork accurately and on time. Maintain a clean and safe working environment through proper and timely disposition, storage, and organization of materials. Support assembly operations by repackaging, kitting, and staging materials as needed. Safely remove and dispose of wood, plastic, metal, and other packaging materials according to established procedures.
Use SAP to update storage bin information and to identify and locate materials throughout the warehouse. Complete routine inspections of material handling equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Operate a turret truck (very narrow aisle stand-up forklift) to pick orders at height, following all safety guidelines. Operate a sit-down forklift to move picked orders from racks to the shipping area.
Spend approximately 10–20% of the shift on forklifts (turret and sit-down) after training and certification, while performing a variety of other warehouse tasks. Transport scrap bins to the unloading area and transfer materials into the dumpster in a safe and controlled manner. Unload and load trucks each day using forklifts, following established procedures and safety standards. Unload 3–4 incoming trucks per day on 2nd shift and load approximately 2 outgoing trucks per day.
Unload trucks according to procedure and visually inspect parts before moving them to the receiving parts staging area. Operate forklift trucks and/or cranes to move materials into and out of assembly work areas and other designated locations. Handle inventory and materials in alignment with inventory control and warehouse distribution practices. Use RF scanners, shipping systems (such as UPS WorldShip), and bills of lading to support shipping, receiving, and documentation activities.
Essential Skills Previous sit-down forklift experience in a warehouse or distribution environment. Previous stand-up forklift experience, preferably with very narrow aisle or turret truck equipment. Comfort working at heights, including being lifted into the air on a turret truck to pick orders. Ability to perform versatile warehouse duties and understand that the role does not involve being on a forklift all day.
Experience with material handling, shipping and receiving, warehouse distribution, packaging, and inventory control. Familiarity with warehouse inventory processes, order picking, unloading, and production support. Ability to use shipping systems and warehouse tools such as RF scanners, bills of lading, and UPS WorldShip. Comfort working in an environment where there may be smells such as paint and oil.
Capability to visually inspect parts and materials for accuracy and condition. Basic computer literacy and ability to work with systems such as SAP to update storage bin information and locate materials. Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and adhere to safety standards consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a material handler or warehouse associate.
Prior experience specifically operating a turret truck forklift. Previous shipping and receiving experience, including handling bills of lading and inventory paperwork. Experience with stand-up reach trucks, stand-up lifts, and turret trucks in a warehouse environment. Experience in inventory management and warehouse distribution operations. Familiarity with 5S principles (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) in a manufacturing or logistics setting.
