This role supports the repair and construction of U.S. Navy submarines and their critical structural components in a high-performance, safety-driven environment based in Kings Bay, GA. As a Structural Welder, you will perform advanced TIG and MIG welding on new construction and repair projects, ensuring that naval vessels meet the highest standards of quality, precision, and safety. You will work with a variety of welding processes, interpret technical documentation, and contribute directly to mission-critical shipbuilding and maintenance operations.

Responsibilities Perform structural welding and fabrication for both new construction and repair of submarine components and related structures. Utilize Pulse MIG (GMAW) and push button TIG (GTAW) welding processes to complete high-quality welds on a variety of metals. Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, layout specifications, and technical drawings to plan and execute welding tasks accurately.

Cut, burn, and weld metals to fabricate, modify, and repair structural components and assemblies. Prepare, clean, and fit surfaces and components prior to welding, including assembling and tracking weld parts to ensure proper alignment and fit-up. Perform welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions using processes such as FCAW, GMAW, and SMAW as required by the job. Build up worn or defective surfaces and perform structural repairs on existing equipment and components.

Operate burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and cut materials to specified dimensions and tolerances. Use grinding and other finishing techniques to ensure welds and fabricated components meet quality and specification requirements. Collaborate closely with other welders, fitters, and fabrication staff while also completing assigned tasks independently when needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with safety and quality standards.

Participate in training programs and weld school activities to meet qualification standards and continuously improve technical skills. Travel to other project locations across the United States as needed to support shipbuilding and repair activities. Follow all security, safety, and operational procedures associated with working on or near naval vessels and at naval facilities. Essential Skills Proven experience in structural welding, including both new construction and repair work.

Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding, including the ability to pass weld testing in both processes. Hands-on experience using Pulse MIG (GMAW) and push button TIG (GTAW) welding processes.
