Welder/Fabricator Job Description We are seeking skilled welders with experience in MIG, TIG, Flux Core, or MCAW welding techniques. As part of our team, you will work in dedicated welding bays to weld splicing plates, rails, steel beams, beam connectors, expansion joints, and barring joints on cold rolled grade 50 steel. You will also be responsible for cleaning and prepping steel, using measurement tools for quality inspection, and reading blueprints and weld symbols.
Responsibilities Perform MIG welding in dedicated welding bays. Weld splicing plates, rails, steel beams, beam connectors, expansion joints, and barring joints. Clean and prep steel using a wire brush, sandpaper, and angle grinders. Inspect quality using micrometers or calipers. Use tape measures to cut stock. Operate and use overhead cranes to move parts. Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
Perform welding in a horizontal position with flat horizontal welds. Get certified on 2G, D15, and D11. Convert fractions to decimals and vice versa using shop math. Essential Skills 1 year of MIG, TIG, Flux Core, or MCAW welding experience or completion of trade school. Ability to weld on carbon steel and familiarity with stainless steel. Proficiency in reading blueprints, weld symbols, and using a tape measure.
Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. Experience welding 1-inch thick carbon steel. Shop math skills for converting fractions to decimals and vice versa. Own welding hood, gloves, and steel toes for interview and weld test. Additional Skills & Qualifications D15, D1.1, or bridge code certifications. Experience with overhead cranes. Why Work Here? This is a 90-day contract-to-hire position, with work schedules of four 10-hour shifts per week, plus overtime. Shifts include a first shift from Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM, and a third shift from Sunday through Wednesday, 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM. The environment is non-union with opportunities for shift differentials and potential flexibility in compensation based on experience. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Baltimore, OH.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
