Job Title: Welder / Fabricator Job Description This Welder/Fabricator role focuses on welding, fitting, and assembling metal components in a fabrication shop environment using MIG welding processes. You will work from blueprints and work instructions to produce high-quality, structurally sound welds while maintaining productivity and adhering to safety and quality standards. Although welding certification is not required, you must demonstrate the ability to perform quality welds and safely operate welding and fabrication equipment.
Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on steel components in a fabrication shop environment. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine job requirements. Fit, tack, weld, and assemble fabricated parts to meet specified dimensions and quality standards. Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders, saws, drills, ironworkers, and other shop tools safely and efficiently.
Inspect completed welds and fabricated products for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift. Follow all company safety policies and consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Report equipment issues, material shortages, and quality concerns promptly to the supervisor. Work independently and collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and deadlines.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and shop operations. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing and fabrication shop environment that uses MIG welding equipment and a variety of fabrication tools, including grinders, saws, drills, and ironworkers. The primary assignment is on first shift, with the expectation that employees can work overtime as needed on weekdays and weekends, and remain available to work second shift if business needs require.
The work area involves regular exposure to heat, noise, dust, and welding fumes, and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and a welding helmet must be worn at all times as required by safety policies. The shop emphasizes cleanliness and organization, providing a structured and safety-conscious environment for daily operations.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Connersville, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
