Now Hiring for Welder / Millwright! Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Welder / Millwright to join our growing team supporting grain handling, agricultural processing, and industrial facilities throughout the Cedar Rapids area. This role combines welding, rigging, mechanical maintenance, equipment installation, and troubleshooting responsibilities. You will work on grain elevators, conveyors, ethanol plants, and processing equipment, helping customers maintain safe and efficient operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and working both in the shop and in the field. Key Responsibilities Assemble, erect, and install steel components, machinery, and equipment in grain handling and agricultural processing facilities. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications. Perform MIG, Stick, TIG, and fabrication welding for equipment modifications, repairs, and installations.
Assist with the construction and de-construction of grain elevators, conveyors, and material handling systems. Perform rigging operations to safely move, lift, align, and install industrial equipment. Establish equipment centerlines and elevations to ensure proper alignment and installation. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on conveyors, elevators, processing equipment, and related systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on machinery, mechanical systems, and hydraulic components. Utilize power tools, hand tools, cutting equipment, and fabrication tools safely and efficiently. Complete basic pipefitting and piping-related tasks as needed. Work safely at heights and follow all company and customer safety procedures. Collaborate with crew members, foremen, and superintendents to complete projects on schedule.
Travel to local and occasional out-of-town job sites as required. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment. Qualifications Required Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mechanical trade, such as millwright work, industrial maintenance, mechanical installation, construction, or equipment repair. Experience using power tools and hand tools. Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Experience with MIG and Stick welding. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings. Comfortable working at heights and in industrial environments. Basic rigging knowledge and material handling experience. Reliable transportation and ability to work overtime when needed. Preferred Millwright experience in grain handling, agricultural processing, or industrial facilities.
Experience with conveyor systems, grain elevators, and ethanol plant equipment. TIG welding experience. Pipefitting experience. Hydraulic system troubleshooting and repair experience. Employees work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and regularly use welding equipment, rigging gear, power tools, and mechanical tools. Team members typically work in crews of 4-5 and report directly to a foreman or superintendent.
