Job Title: Contract Coordinator – Wind Turbine Restoration Projects Job Description The Contract Coordinator oversees contractors and vendors performing construction and restoration work on wind turbine projects. This role supports the overall management of assigned projects to ensure they meet budget, schedule, quality, and safety goals. The coordinator works on site full time, supervises field activities related to catastrophically failed wind turbines, and ensures all work complies with industry standards and project requirements.
Responsibilities Oversee contractors and vendors performing construction, restoration, commissioning, and maintenance work on wind turbine towers at the project site. Assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on assigned projects, taking corrective action when needed. Participate in walk downs of planned work and validate acceptance of completed work against design requirements and project specifications.
Review contractor payment requests to confirm alignment with completed work and contractual obligations. Verify constructability of planned work and ensure appropriate resource allocation to meet project milestones. Monitor field status regularly and resolve issues in the field as they arise to keep work progressing safely and efficiently. Coordinate project activities with vendors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, local community officials, and internal project teams.
Assist in scope control, budget oversight, performance reporting, scheduling, and tracking work-in-progress for assigned projects. Support risk management and risk assessment activities related to construction and restoration work on wind turbines. Interface with landowners, local regulators, and state agencies as needed throughout project execution. Reinforce expectations related to safety, procedure compliance, lessons learned, corrective actions, and appropriate work behaviors for employees and contractor staff.
Coordinate with groups such as safety programs, engineering, construction, budget, analytics, and contract administration to align project activities. Interface with the project’s designated management committee to provide updates and escalate issues as appropriate. Serve as the on-site supervisory lead for restoration activities related to catastrophically failed wind turbines, including cleanup, foundation inspection, and recommissioning of towers with replacement hardware.
Ensure that all field work is performed safely and in accordance with industry standard practices and project specifications. Oversee field activities such as excavation, electrical bypass, demolition, tower erection, hot work (welding, cutting, etc.), operation of heavy machinery (diggers, excavators, cranes, etc.), and material handling with appropriate environmental and spill protection measures.
Be physically present on site whenever field activities or vendor work are in progress on wind towers. Work closely with the project manager and vendor teams to help keep tasks aligned with the overall project schedule. Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support successful completion of wind turbine restoration projects. Essential Skills Minimum of 3+ years of wind turbine construction, commissioning, or maintenance experience.
Proven experience overseeing contractors and vendors on construction or wind turbine projects. Strong understanding of wind turbine tower construction, restoration, and commissioning activities. Demonstrated experience with construction management, including planning, scheduling, and field coordination. Ability to assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance in the field.
