Job Title: Wire Harness Assembler Job Description This role focuses on building custom cables and wire harnesses, including flat ribbon cable, for specialized applications. You assemble and process cables using a variety of hand and power tools, follow detailed written instructions and technical diagrams, and ensure each harness meets quality and performance standards. Crimping experience is required, and you contribute directly to the production of precision cable assemblies used in demanding environments.
Responsibilities Assemble custom cables and wire harnesses, including flat ribbon cable, according to work orders, written instructions, and technical diagrams. Use hand and power tools such as crimpers, pliers, cutters, magnifying glass, and stripper machines to prepare and assemble wiring components. Perform accurate crimping of connectors and terminals to ensure reliable electrical and mechanical connections.
Strip, route, and bundle wires and cables to create clean, organized harness assemblies that meet specified layouts and standards. Read and interpret blueprints, assembly diagrams, schematics, and wiring drawings to complete assemblies correctly and efficiently. Solder wires, connectors, and components as needed to build or repair cable and harness assemblies. Inspect completed cable and harness assemblies for proper workmanship, correct configuration, and adherence to quality requirements.
Follow established production processes, work instructions, and safety guidelines throughout the assembly process. Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in clean, safe, and organized condition to support efficient production. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve assembly issues, clarify documentation, and meet production schedules. Support occasional early starts and weekend work when required to meet customer and production demands.
Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience with electro-mechanical assembly. 3–5 years of extensive cabling and wire harness assembly experience. Hands-on crimping experience with connectors and terminals. Proficiency in cable assembly, harness assembly, and wiring techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly diagrams, schematics, and written instructions. Experience using hand and power tools such as crimpers, pliers, cutters, magnifying glass, and wire stripper machines.
Skill in soldering wires, connectors, and components for cable and harness assemblies. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable cable assemblies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of flat ribbon cable assembly is a plus. Comfort working with connectors, harness assemblies, and schematic-based layouts. Ability to follow detailed work orders and production documentation.
Solid blueprint reading skills and understanding of blueprint schematics. Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit production team. Willingness to support occasional early start times and Saturday work when needed. Why Work Here? Dress code is manufacturing casual, requiring closed-toed shoes. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional early starts at 6:00 a.m.
