Job Description Coffman Engineers is seeking a  Fire Protection Engineer  with three to six years of working experience, who wants to be a part of our office growth and culture. The successful candidate will have a desire to work, grow, and have fun with a multi-discipline engineering team.

The successful individual will have a passion for protecting lives from fire risks in the built environment. The ideal candidate will have a fire protection engineering degree, however, an engineering degree in other fields (mechanical, architectural, civil, etc.) with working experience in fire protection will also be considered.
This position will support the team in providing our clients with: fire and life safety code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant rated construction analysis; automatic suppression system design and analysis; fire detection, alarm and communication system design and analysis; smoke control system design and special inspections; site inspections and witness of life safety system testing; fire hazard analysis; performance-based design; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts.
The Denver Fire Protection Engineering department collectively has 50+ years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering across our department of six, all of whom will provide you with training, mentorship, and support to help you grow your career. Qualifications Requirements Include: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited college or university in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Sciences. B.S. in other engineering field combined with fire protection work experience also considered. 3-6 years of relevant experience. EIT or having passed the FE exam with the ability to obtain EIT within one year. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (preferred).
Intermediate level computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and simple graphics. Managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills. Ability to work on a highly-motivated team, think outside the box, and be proud of the work you do while having a passion for expanding your knowledge and skills.
Working in-person in our Westminster, CO office, full-time, Monday through Friday. Desired Skills and Duties: Technical writing skills. Project management skills for managing internal projects as well as external client needs. Attend and participate in local and national professional organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA. Perform building and fire code analysis and code interpretations. Prepare life safety plans.
Perform analysis of existing fire protection systems, as well as designing new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and mass
