What we’re looking for: Requirements: A Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, vocational rehabilitation or a counseling related field that may include, but is not limited to degrees I rehabilitation, education, social work or psychology or closely related field.

OR – A Bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation or a counseling related field that may include, but is not limited to degrees I rehabilitation, education, social work or psychology or closely related field AND (1) year experience in a related field. OR – An Associate’s degree in vocational rehabilitation or a counseling related field that may include, but is not limited to degrees I rehabilitation, education, social work or psychology or closely related field AND (2) years experience in a related field.

OR – (3) Three years experience in counseling, linking with community resources, special education or instruction. Strong sales background. Good time management, analytical, writing and communication skills. Specialized knowledge that will assist in the ability to obtain contracts and negotiate fee-for-service opportunities include strong working knowledge of medical, psychological, social, and vocational aspects of disability and/or disadvantaging conditions; of community resources; of occupational information and job readiness.

Proven ability to develop strategic relationships, extensive experience networking with employers and industry leaders. Proficiency with the tools associated with the scope of the position including Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to provide positive leadership in a flexible geographic environment where self-direction, prioritizing and organizational skills will be crucial to success. Ability to be flexible in hours and work locations (across greater service area) to accommodate the needs of the Business contracts, Program and Goodwill.

Strong ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of organizations and individuals. Position travels extensively to business customers in the field; must have access to reliable transportation and a clean motor vehicle report (MVR).   What you’ll be doing: As an Employment Specialist you will be self-directed and sales-oriented.  Secures contracts/agreements from employers for which a fee is paid.

Negotiates with employers to develop community employment opportunities for job training and permanent employment for program participants.  Primary duty is to obtain orders from employers for employment of program graduates, which results in payment for individualized job placement services by third-party funder.   You’ll be responsible for the following: Negotiate and secure contracts/agreements with employers for which a fee is paid.

Provide leadership, coaching, and assign job tasks to Job Coaches on daily activities and to coordinate schedules to ensure customers are satisfied with service delivery and to maintain account relationships.
