Job Title: Fill Tech II Department: Production Last Reviewed: September 2025 Levels: Fill Tech I: basic operation of filling equipment, following SOPs, and performing routine tasks.
Fill Tech II: operate multiple machines, perform changeovers, and handle troubleshooting for routine issues. Fill Tech III: can perform complex set-ups, lead troubleshooting, and work with maintenance to improve processes. Considered a subject matter expert, mentoring and training lower-level techs. Job Summary This role is responsible for performing machine set-ups, changeovers, and in-process quality checks while maintaining accurate production documentation.
Operates and troubleshoots multiple types of filling equipment with minimal supervision. Provides guidance to Fill Tech 1’s, assists in problem-solving, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to ensure efficiency and compliance with company standards. Duties & Responsibilities Independently operate and monitor multiple types of filling and packaging equipment. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Perform equipment set-ups, equipment cleaning, adjustments, and product changeovers with minimal supervision. Troubleshoot and resolve routine mechanical or process issues on the production line. Train and assist Fill Tech I employees in standard procedures and equipment operation. Monitor production efficiency and recommend minor process improvements. Report equipment malfunctions, quality issues, or safety concerns to supervisors.
Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Accurately complete basic production logs and records. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills & Abilities Proficient in operating multiple filling and packaging machines. Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving routine equipment and process issues. Effective communication skills to interact with leads, supervisors, and maintenance staff.
Adaptability to handle frequent product changeovers and equipment adjustments. Ability to train and mentor Fill Tech 1’s. Education & Experience High School diploma or equivalent preferred. 1–3 years of experience in filling, packaging, or manufacturing roles, preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. independently and heavier loads with assistance. Tolerance for exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and manufacturing environments. Information & Compensation
