SUMMARY The PLL Junior Archers Player Performance Pathway Coach is responsible for providing high-quality, individualized lacrosse instruction designed to identify, develop, and prepare the next generation of elite players. This role focuses primarily on 1-on-1 and small-group training, with an emphasis on technical development, decision-making, confidence, and overall understanding of the game. The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator, teacher, and mentor who understands that effective player development requires more than knowledge of lacrosse.

This individual must be able to observe and assess players, identify specific areas for improvement, adapt their coaching approach to individual needs, and provide clear, actionable feedback that helps athletes make measurable progress. Above all, this role requires someone who enjoys working with young athletes and has the patience, energy, and interpersonal skills necessary to create a positive, challenging, and development-focused environment.

  RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Lead high-quality 1-on-1 and small-group training sessions focused on the technical, tactical, physical, and mental development of individual players. Observe and evaluate players to identify strengths, development opportunities, and specific technical or decision-making needs. Break down complex lacrosse skills and concepts into clear, age-appropriate, and actionable instruction.

Demonstrate proper technique and provide frequent, specific, and constructive feedback that players can understand and immediately apply. Adapt coaching methods, drills, and communication styles based on each player's age, skill level, learning style, position, and developmental needs. Incorporate game-like situations, decision-making, creativity, and problem-solving into player development activities.

Build positive relationships with athletes and create an environment where players feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, competing, and learning. Track player progress and communicate development priorities and feedback to players, parents/guardians when appropriate, and program leadership. Collaborate with other PLL Junior Archers coaches to provide consistent instruction, development standards, and messaging across the program.

Support player evaluations, assessments, camps, clinics, training sessions, and other PLL Junior Archers programming as assigned. Maintain high standards for player effort, attitude, accountability, sportsmanship, safety, and behavior. Serve as a positive and professional representative of the PLL Junior Archers and its player development philosophy. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Previous lacrosse playing and/or coaching experience required; high-level playing or coaching experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of fundamental lacrosse skills, position-specific development, offensive and defensive principles, transition, spacing, decision-making, and game situations. Demonstrated ability to effectively coach athletes in 1-on-1 and small-group environments. Strong teaching skills with the ability to observe player performance, identify the cause of developmental challenges, and provide effective solutions.

Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with players across varying ages, personalities, learning styles, and skill levels.
