THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG), Groton, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the CTARNG. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the CTARNG. Major duties: This position is located within TASMG Projects and may be extended or terminated at the discretion of the TASMG Commander.
JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of the position is to perform repair, maintenance, modification, overhaul and installation of a variety of moderately complex electronics equipment. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Repairs, inspects, maintains, modifies, overhauls and installs a variety of avionics electronics equipment of moderate complexity of design, construction, and function.
Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots components, assemblies or subassemblies. When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements. Guides lower level mechanics in the performance of duties. Processes and accounts for due-in supply assets. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas or on the aircraft in restricted places, where conditions of heat or cold may occur.
Occasionally works outside in inclement weather. Subject to injuries such as electrical shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical or radio frequency energy, or by soldering irons. Works in high noise environment. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort involves lifting components and equipment, also working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Items lifted generally weigh up to 40 pounds.
Assistance is usually available with heavier items. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Education: No substitution of education for specialized experience.
