This temporary promotion appointment may be made permanent without further competition.

Refer to Required Documents section for more information. This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), in Anchorage, AK. The incumbent serves as Regional Supervisor for the Office of Resource Evaluation for the BOEM Alaska Regional Office.
As Regional Supervisor you will provide policy guidance, direction, and program oversight for all aspects Resource Evaluation, collaborating with the other managers and supervisors in the Region and Headquarters in the long range planning and programming of the management of the energy and marine minerals resources of the federal outer continental shelf (OCS) off of Alaska. Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Directs the preparation of exploration and development scenarios for NEPA documents including Environmental Impact Statements (EIS's) and other miscellaneous purposes.
Conducts Government-to-Government consultations with federally recognized tribes, and public meetings with communities to obtain the views of the tribes and the public on issues for decisions. Directs the preparation of technical specifications and evaluates competitive bids for data acquisition and processing. Processes, evaluates and oversees action on all geological and geophysical (G&G) permits requests under 30 CFR Part 551.
Develops, justifies and oversees procurement of G&G data as approved in the annual regional G&G budget. Directs and oversees the regional stratigraphic, petrological, paleontological, and geophysical studies in support of the OCS energy and marine mineral leasing program. Ensures that all applicable notification and other required procedures are followed pertaining to scientific research on the OCS.
Reviews available geological, geophysical and engineering data and information bearing on the resource economic evaluation of acreage offered for lease to assure receipt of fair market value. Directs and oversees detailed reservoir and field-specific geological and reservoir engineering analyses to determine potential quantities of proven and unproven reserves in existing fields. Directs and oversees assessments of potential quantities of undiscovered resources for consideration in the full spectrum of policy and regulatory decisions required by the OCS Leasing Program.
Maintains management awareness and coordination of interrelated activities and other continuing cooperative efforts among different Region offices to support the entire BOEM mission. Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
