Major duties: You will produce and distribute meteorology and oceanography (METOC) products and data to support the operating forces of the U.S. Department of Defense, allied forces, and other U.S. government agencies.,You will perform full range of analyses for a wide variety of requests, including very difficult, complex, or unusual assignments for atmospheric, oceanic, or other technical assessments.,You will develop and implement improved numerical models and analyses at all levels of classification.,You will develop, implement, upgrade, evaluate and maintain automated systems to acquire, decode, and quality control of all types of METOC data to maximize the value of satellite data and imagery for environmental models and tactical products.,You will present scientific results in a general public forum or produce a technical document for inter-agency distribution.
Education: Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual and must possess: Basic Requirements: Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
or Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements above, applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as below: GS-11:3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D.
degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree There is no education substitution for the GS-12. College transcripts must be provided with application to be considered.
