Description of Work The Administrative Specialist I position is within the Health Information Management Department (Arbor Cottage), and reports to the Administrative Lead/Record Supervisor. The position supports record-related functions and the maintenance of an EHR system. The position requires collaboration with internal/external providers and performing all facets of record-related tasks within an electronic health record system.
Additional duties include typing, filing, data entry, conducting record audits, compiling statistics, and reporting data in an appropriate format, and on-going qualitative/quantitative record analyses. The position provides back-up coverage to other assigned record areas as needed Position monitors records ensuring that records are current, complete, and consistent with policies, state and federal regulations, NC General Statutes and Confidentiality Regulations in the Division of MH/DD/SAS.
This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $39,244.00 - $68,679.00 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required.
Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Prior experience in Health Information Management (medical records), preferably a developmental disability setting Prior experience and use of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system with ability to scan, conduct deficiency analysis, process chart completion, release of information, etc. Formal computer skills and knowledge of various computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power point, etc.) Familiarity with Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology Excellent oral and written communication skills for the purpose of documenting and communicating with diverse levels of staff Management Preferences (if applicable) Two-year degree in Health Information Technology/Administration Electronic Medical records experience, preferably in a developmental disability setting with both inpatient and outpatient records Formal training in medical terminology and anatomy & physiology Demonstrated ability to plan and work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements: Specific ADA requirements will be discussed during interview; however, position does require the lifting of at least 20lbs, periodic walking, and the ability to sit for extended periods.
