Available Title(s): 678J-YN_CS_NPS - Custodian 2 Business Title: Custodian 2 Employee Type: Classified Position Details: The Opportunity: As the Custodian 2 for Student Affairs , you will help maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of residence halls, apartments, dining facilities, and other campus spaces.
Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of custodial and minor maintenance tasks, including commercial cleaning and basic repairs. In this role, you must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and operate industrial cleaning equipment and power tools such as high-speed buffers, burnishers, shampooers, vacuum cleaners, and hand drills. You will clean restrooms, classrooms, residence halls, offices, and similar facilities, as well as perform minor maintenance duties such as caulking, replacing toilet seats, lavatory handles, outlet covers, and making minor furniture repairs.
You must be able to move and transport heavy items, including tables, furniture, cleaning equipment, and supplies. This position requires the ability to frequently bend, stoop, lift, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, stand and walk continuously throughout your shift, and climb and work from ladders. You may also have the opportunity to supervise lower-level staff. Position may work any of the following hours, dependent upon the departmental needs: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, 7:30 to 4:00 pm, 8 am to 4:30 pm, unscheduled work week, early mornings, swing, late evening, and weekend shifts.
Additional Information: This is a full-time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,327 to $4,406 | Range 36 | Steps A - M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position.
Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Required Qualifications: The ability to do required work, the ability to read and write AND six months experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
