Overview The Data Innovation Analyst-Intermediate will be at the forefront of transforming data into actionable insights for Independent Health. The analyst will develop and maintain innovative data-driven solutions to enhance quality of care, address health disparities, reduce costs, optimize clinical operations, improve coding accuracy, and refine member segmentation.
The Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams. They will drive the adoption of new technologies and uncover innovative ways to leverage data for organizational success. The analyst will possess a strong foundation in data analysis, a keen interest in healthcare, and a desire to explore the potential of emerging technologies like AI and machine learning. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/research discipline required.
Master’s degree preferred. An additional four (4) years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree. Three (3) years of analytics experience required. Experience in a managed health care environment preferred. Knowledge of Independent Health EDW, Health Rules, Beacon, and Power data structures preferred. Proficient in SQL and Python required. Fundamental knowledge of the following areas is preferred: data mining concepts; AI and machine learning frameworks (such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or Keras); machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and deep learning techniques; LLM and NLP concepts.
Knowledge of industry analytical concepts, courses or certification preferred. Knowledge of healthcare concepts and healthcare data, for example CPT, HCPCS, DRG, ICD-10/ICD-9 Code, etc. Experience integrating data into reports with at least one of the less-common data sources, unstructured or cloud-based data, which are inclusive of but not limited to ADT data, SNOWMED data, HL7 resources, LOINC coded base data, immunization data, JSON files, etc.
Knowledge of descriptive statistical techniques. Knowledge of reporting tools, for example Excel, Milliman – MedInsight, Business Objects, Qlik, etc. Ability to translate customer requirements into reports/analyses and frame questions that create value for the business partners. Ability to present and communicate outputs and statistical analysis that meets the needs of and is easily understood by the business partners.
Ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Ability to innovate and enhance existing solutions. Essential Accountabilities Develop and implement data-driven solutions to address key business challenges.
This will include creating and maintaining reports, dashboards, and analytical models that provide actionable insights to improve operational efficiency, enhance decision-making, and achieve strategic objectives. Identify opportunities to streamline data processes and automate tasks to increase efficiency and productivity. Work on multiple innovative and foundational solutions at the same time in response to day-to-day requests: Develop data processes, reports, dashboards, charts, visualization, or analyses to streamline business process.
Present output in user friendly manner. Provide summary of results and work independently and with others to develop recommendations when applicable. Deliver work according to department SOP. Bring new ideas and enhancements to existing projects and reports. Review and validate data and findings prior to releasing report to Q/A analyst and customer to ensure accuracy. Identify and implement ways to improve/streamline existing processes using new technologies.
