The Beeck Center is seeking a Deputy Director, Network + Engagement to provide operational leadership and deep subject matter expertise to our growing network portfolio. In this role, you will lead the management and growth of the State Chief Data Officers (CDO) Network, providing strategic direction and comprehensive program oversight for one of the Digital Government Network’s flagship communities of practice.
Additionally, the Deputy Director serves as a trusted connector across the broader Beeck Center ecosystem. You will foster deep collaboration and cross-functional synergy between the Digital Government Network and the Center’s research, training, and technical assistance functions to advance shared organizational goals. As a member of the network team, you will contribute directly to the strategic development and operational management of the Digital Government Network—supporting network expansion, program innovation, and the continuous identification of new opportunities to increase member value and deliver long-term impact.

Work Interactions The Deputy Director, Network + Engagement will be a core member of the network portfolio team and report to a Senior Director within the Digital Government Network. The Deputy Director will work closely with other network team members, including peer network managers, technical assistance providers, and program staff. This role demands substantial external engagement, serving as a primary point of contact for State Chief Data Officers, senior government officials, philanthropic partners, and ecosystem stakeholders.
Internally, the Deputy Director will routinely collaborate across matrixed teams, partnering with Research, Training + Technical Assistance, Communications, and Operations functions, and will have the opportunity to manage or mentor staff, contractors, or Student Analysts. Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of relevant leadership experience, with a clear focus on program management, capacity building, developing communities of practice, or network facilitation (each year of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of required education).
