JOB SUMMARY: Obtains and verifies information with patients and coordinates daily scheduling of patients. WORK PERFORMED: 1. Reviews the referrals for completeness of information necessary to process referral as per policy and procedure set by Management. 2. Contacts physician offices to obtain additional information on patient, if necessary. 3. Responsible for contacting patients to obtain demographic and insurance information.
4. Responsible for verifying insurance coverage via eligibility computer system to determine available benefits. 5. Responsible for contacting via telephone insurance carriers or electronic eligibility to obtain necessary insurance benefits information. 6. Responsible for INITIAL pre-authorization/pre-admission requirements of insurance carriers prior to the start of care. 7. Responsible for notifying patients if their carrier has not pre-authorized OPD services and advising patient of Burke payment policies.
8. Responsible for scheduling and rescheduling appointments and maintaining an accurate daily schedule of all therapy patients. 9. Responsible for the distribution of the therapy schedules to the appropriate departments. 10. Responsible for and acts as a liaison between the Finance Department and the ancillary departments regarding all therapy scheduling. 11. Responsible for submitting the referral to the OPD Charge Nurse for review.
12. Responsible for offsite clerical support as the need arises. 13. Performs any other duty at the request of Management, 14. Practices Universal Precautions. 15. Demonstrates the ability to communicate with pediatric, adolescent, young adult and geriatric patients and visitors. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High School diploma preferred. Previous clerical experience in a clinical business environment preferred.
