Description of Work The primary purpose of the Procurement Specialist I position is to coordinate the procurement of supplies, equipment, and services through the processing of requisitions, purchase orders, and competitive bids for general and specialized commodity areas. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $41,206.00 - $72,113.00 Recruitment Range: $41,206.00 - $65,760.00 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Proven ability to interpret and apply established procurement rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and apply this knowledge in problem solving and responding to questions and inquiries. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel and vendors.

Technical expertise required in order to write effective IFBs, RFQs, and other solicitation methods to procure goods and services. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Completion of the North Carolina Contract Manager (NCCM) program within one year of hire per G.S. 143-49 (15). This is a full-time position and is eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement.
